The Transportation Planning staff are responsible for the following:
- Developing and updating multimodal transportation plans to accommodate growth and improve connectivity, such as the 2021 Bike Plan;
- Coordinating the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program;
- Identifying funding and overseeing the design process for transportation infrastructure projects, such as greenways, sidewalks, traffic calming measures, and bike lane installations;
- Collaborating with other local, regional, and state transportation planning agencies, such as the Triangle West Transportation Planning Organization (TWTPO);
- Ensuring development projects meets the transportation-related provisions of the Land Use Ordinance;
- Providing recommendations on how the Town can live into its Complete Streets, Vision Zero, and Safe Streets for All commitments; and
- Supporting the Transportation, Mobility, and Greenways Advisory Commission (TMGAC).
