History Overview
On November 22, 1994, the Carrboro Town Council approved a petition to incorporate the Weaver Family Cemetery into the Town’s official cemetery maintenance system. According to the petition, “This cemetery is the burial site of the first Weavers in this area of North Carolina and is of significance to the history of Orange County and to the Town of Carrboro.”
The cemetery contains:
- 28 documented burial sites
- 18 additional graves marked with crude or informal markers, reflecting its historic character
