2024 Street Resurfacing Project
Overview
The Town of Carrboro maintains 48.04 miles of roadways comprising of 566 street segments or blocks, 41 miles of sidewalks, and 872 curb ramps throughout the community. The 2024 Street Resurfacing Project is intended to keep streets and curb ramps safe and in good condition for all users, and to make improvements strategically and efficiently to ensure safer and longer-lasting streets and curbs.
Project Description
Carrboro’s 2024 Street Resurfacing Project includes improvements to 20,780 linear feet of roadways and 1,285 linear feet of greenways. Work includes asphalt rejuvenation, pavement milling, full depth patching, and related construction activity such as curb ramp improvements, manhole adjustments and pavement markings.
The initial phase of the project includes upgrading sidewalk ramps to comply with ADA standards and repairing the current curb and gutter. The second phase targets pavement rejuvenation to extend the lifespan of treated surfaces, reduce overall life-cycle costs of paved roads, mitigate urban heat islands, and decrease pollution. The final phase will concentrate on street resurfacing.
Pavement Rejuvenation
Pavement Rejuvenation uses titanium dioxide additive shown to reduce urban heat islands and pollution. To learn more visit Pavement Technology, Inc., or view PlusTi Brochure.
Note: Roadways may be traveled on after the titanium dioxide additive has been applied. Pets should be kept off treated roadways until they have completely dried, approximately 24 hours.
Ti Pollution Capture: Smog Eating Technology
